Sami Colpean Al-Gharaibeh Village Green Memorial Fund
Sami Colpean Al-Gharaibeh unexpectedly passed away far too soon on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at only eight months old. Sami was one of Wyoming's newest and youngest residents born into the pandemic. Sami didn’t get out much (thanks, COVID), but some of his best memories with his family were on sunny days and evenings on the Village Green. Even in a pandemic, Sami got to eat an ice cream cone, listen to live music, and see his neighbors (from a safe six feet away).
Sami's parents have a passion for investing in the community and public space to make these types of memories possible.
The plan to transform the Village Green into a refreshed community space is something Sami would have loved. Many have reached out asking what they can do to help the family at this time. To honor Sami’s memory, they would love to make a large enough donation to the Wyoming Village Green project where Sami's name could be featured. It would mean the world to the family to be able to visibly leave his mark on a place he loved, one of the few places he was able to go during his eight short months here.
With the generosity from those who have donated this far, we have exceeded the goal to recognize Sami in the garden space of this project. Michelle and Faris have requested to continue a Village Green Memorial Fund to contribute to the overall construction of the pavilion structure. To date, the family has raised $30K in honor of Sami. Michelle and Faris have noted this is not only an investment in his memory, it's an investment in the community, and would like to thank you, Wyoming, for your support.
Sami's parents Michelle Colpean and Faris Al-Gharaibeh would like to ask the community to donate to the "Sami Colpean Al-Gharaibeh Village Green Memorial Fund".
We have created a custom electronic donation link, no donation is too large or small. Additionally, checks can be mailed to Wyoming Community Foundation at 800 Oak Ave., Wyoming, Ohio 45215. Please include "Sami Memorial Fund" on all checks. All donations are tax-deductible. If you have additional questions, please reach out to Rachel Leininger at rleininger@wyomingohio.gov. Thank you for leaving a lasting memory of Sami on our community!
